Cookie Policy

Last updated: January 10, 2025

1. Overview

This Cookie Policy explains how FieldReport.ai (“FieldReport,” “we,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our marketing site and hosted applications (the “Services”). Cookies are small text files placed on your device to make the Services work as expected, keep sessions secure, and remember your preferences.

We only deploy cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication, security, and user experience. We do not currently use advertising, social media, or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy and obtain any required consent before doing so.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

2.1 Essential session cookies

Authentication into FieldReport is handled by Clerk. Clerk sets short-lived cookies (such as __session) to identify you after you sign in, maintain session integrity, and enforce security controls. These cookies are required to access the product and expire automatically when you sign out or after a limited time.

2.2 Preference cookies

We store lightweight cookies to remember optional interface settings you choose in the product. For example, the cookie named sidebar_statesaves whether the navigation sidebar is collapsed or expanded for the next time you visit. This cookie lasts up to seven days unless you clear it sooner.

2.3 Security and infrastructure cookies

Our hosting providers may set cookies that are essential to deliver the Services, such as load-balancing or anti-abuse cookies. These do not track you across other websites and are only used to ensure the Services function correctly.

3. Third-Party Technology

We rely on service providers to operate the Services. Key providers include Clerk (user authentication), Vercel or equivalent hosting platforms, and database infrastructure (such as Neon/Postgres). These providers may set their own essential cookies strictly to deliver their services to us. They do not have permission to use those cookies for their independent marketing.

When we introduce optional analytics or integrations that are not strictly necessary, we will present clear notices and, where required by law, collect your consent before placing those cookies.

4. Managing Cookies

Because we only use essential cookies, disabling cookies in your browser may limit or prevent access to authenticated portions of the Services. If you prefer, you may clear cookies after each session or use your browser settings to block cookies from other sites.

Instructions for managing cookies are available within most browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings/Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Cookies and site permissions

Deleting or blocking all cookies may stop the Services from functioning. If you encounter issues, contact us and we will help you access your account using alternative methods where possible.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no industry standard for responding to these signals, our Services currently do not alter behavior when a DNT signal is received. We remain committed to limiting cookies to those that are strictly necessary.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Cookie Policy as our Services evolve or as legal requirements change. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, when required, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Services after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
